Meekz's new single "What About Us" stays true to the Manchester-born artist's signature style, combining a gritty vocal tone with storytelling inspired by personal life stories. There's something very personal about the song, about thinking about where you come from and what you've been through. Meekz doesn't separate voice from story, he makes both a main focus, so his delivery gives the words their own character.
The gravelly nature of Meekz's vocals adds weight to the storytelling. The voice has a natural delivery of the material that gives "What About Us" a direct, grounded presence. His approach keeps the focus on lived experience, linking the sound of the performance to the experience reflected in the lyrics. The result is a release that feels personal without unnecessary decoration.
''What About Us " follows the same well-trodden creative path, but it's still about storytelling, voice, and experience. His rough delivery lends the record an identifiable presence, while the reflections on upbringing and life provide its emotional and narrative foundation. For those who like their music to speak from experience, not distance, Meekz's new single is a natural, vivid, personal expression of the world that has shaped his artistic voice.
