Memoryy's latest single, “snoopdoggguardianangel,” is inspired by a real-life encounter with Snoop Dogg on what the artist calls the saddest day of his life, and it transforms a strange real-life moment into a vibrant, emotionally rich song about searching for meaning when everything feels uncertain.
The same goes for the story behind the track, a restless song from the start. It has a dreamy quality that is both uplifting and slightly disorienting, with synth textures, amazing guitar variations, and a pulse of late-night energy. Memory hits that sweet spot between these conflicting emotions, letting joy, confusion, hope, and obsession all sit side by side.
The track performs really well because it gives the weirdness of the story plenty of room to breathe. It’s not so much about the celebrity in the elevator as it is about our human need to find signs in moments of heartbreak. What you end up with is a song that, despite its strange origins, somehow feels surprisingly relatable.
